English FA charges Manchester City after Haaland and co. surrounded the referee during the Premier League draw between Tottenham and Manchester City.

Erling Haaland and other players surrounded the referee after the match official failed to play advantage for a possible scoring opportunity late in Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham in the English Premier League. On Monday, Manchester City was charged.

According to the English Football Association, City “failed to ensure their players do not behave improperly.”

Haaland continued to complain after the final whistle, voicing his annoyance in a post on X, the former name for Twitter, in response to a video of the stoppage-time incident. He was especially incensed about referee Simon Hooper’s choice not to play advantage. The FA made no mention of Haaland receiving special treatment for his behaviour.

Emerson Royal of Tottenham tackled Haaland as City looked for a winner following Dejan Kulusevski’s equalizer in the ninetieth minute. Hooper seemed to signal for play to continue as the striker stood back up, and Haaland passed the ball to Grealish. Hooper blew his whistle at that point. The FA stated that City had until Thursday to address the accusation.
