Giovanni Lo Celso and Erling Haaland had to be separated after Manchester City’s exciting draw with Tottenham.
Dejan Kulusevski gave Spurs a late equalizer at the Etihad Stadium, while Lo Celso had given the visitors their second goal. Just after scoring, Lo Celso was taken off the field to shake hands with the City players when he got into an altercation with Haaland.
The City striker was furious with referee Simon Hooper for calling a free-kick instead of play advantage in the closing minutes of the match, and he was storming off. Haaland had reached the touchline when he crossed paths with Lo Celso.
The Spurs star seemed to step over and collide with Haaland’s shoulder, but the Norwegian continued to walk. But Lo Celso turned and seemed to shout something that attracted the attention of the City player.
Haaland whipped his head back around and then started walking over to Lo Celso, who also closed the ground. However, they were only able to exchange words as Lo Celso was forced back by City manager Pep Guardiola and Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou blocked Haaland’s path.
Before Haaland turned to head down the tunnel, a number of players and other Spurs coaching staff members got in the way of the two players. Manager Guardiola remained reticent about the incident, stating that frustration was the root of it.
