Former Indian cricketer and 2018’s most expensive Indian player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Jaydev Unadkat, has slammed the makers of the much-talked about movie ‘Animal’. The movie features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead as an ‘alpha-male’ and has been accused of promoting misogyny.
Jaydev Unadkat said that the movie was “an absolute disaster” and went on to claim that it glorified misogyny. He called upon the makers to have “social responsibility” and be careful about what they show to millions. He later deleted the post, the reasons of why he has done so are unknown.

The movie is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who had a glorious success with a movie that received similar criticisms, Kabir Singh in 2019. The movie has been criticised for its glorification of arrogant male characters and the unjust treatment of female characters.
The movie has divided opinion among the fanbase with the fans defending the movie by calling it art and for it to be taken with a pinch of salt. Its detractors, however, are raising the need for makers to be more socially responsible. The movie is a Box Office hit, however, raking in over 230 crores worldwide in the first two days of its release.
