Harry Brook has withdrawn from the upcoming India tour due to personal reasons and has flown back to England. Surrey’s Dan Lawrence is expected to join the squad within 24 hours as informed by England Cricket board through a post on X (Formerly Twitter).

An ECB release stated, “Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space.”

Harry Brook has been one of the most prolific batsmen of England in the Ashes last year. He scored 363 runs in 5 test matches at an average of 40.33 which included 4 fifties. Harry Brook was the highest run-getter in a 3-match test series when England toured Pakistan in 2022. He scored 468 runs in 3 matches at an average of 93.60 that included 3 centuries.

This news comes as a big blow to England given Harry Brook’s performances in the series in Pakistan as he could have been a fortune changer for England in the upcoming tour. Dan Lawrence has been on the last tour of England to India in 2021 and he managed to score just a fifty in a total of 149 runs at an average of 24.83. England will hope that Dan Lawrence would benefit from his previous experience in India.
